ABERDEEN — Fire investigators and the State Bureau of Investigation are trying to find out what caused a historic house in Moore County to go up in flames.

More than 75 firefighters from five different departments were called out to save the 111-year-old home in the town of Aberdeen Monday night.

Flames were shooting 60 feet into the air when firefighters arrived at the house on Blue and High Streets about 10:30 p.m. It took crews six hours to put out the raging fire.

Two people inside the house escaped.

Police arrested two of the homeowner's sons for delaying and obstructing an officer.

The house, which is one of the oldest in Aberdeen and listed on theNational Register of Historic Places, is considered a total loss.

The SBI was called in because of the size and historic nature of the home.
