Stray Cats Land Durham Man In Court

DURHAM, N.C. — A cat fight in Durham landed a man in court.
Richard Best, a resident of the Warehouse condominiums, belongs to an animal rescue group and started feeding cats outside of a condo.
When neighbors complained about the cats and Best did not stop feeding them, the homeowner's association took him to court.
"We had no choice. The bylaws were set up to say that if our bylaws were being broken and the person will not correct the thing that is happening, then you take them to court," says Susan Allen of the homeowner's association.
Under the court order, Best is not allowed to feed cats within 100 feet of the condominium complex.
