CLAYTON — A Greenville delivery truck driver was killed in a freak accident Tuesday morning.

Claude May, 33, was leaving the Food Lion off Highway 70 in Clayton about 7:30 a.m. when he swerved to avoid hitting another truck. Police say his trailer hit a guy wire, which bent up and touched an electric line.

When May stepped out of the truck, he was electrocuted. The truck caught on fire and is destroyed.

May was a driver for Cal Maine Foods of Greenville.
