DURHAM — Duke Universityhas more applications than it can handle.
The university has the second highest number ever and a record number of minority applicants.
There has been an 11 percent increase in Latino applicants and four percent increases in African-American and Asian applicants.
Duke expects to admit about 1,600 freshmen next fall.
