RALEIGH — The federal government has taken control of Wake County's Head Start program.
The former operator, Wake Opportunities, has been plagued by bookkeeping errors.Teachers walked off the joblast week after hearing rumors that they would not be paid.
TheU.S. Dept. of Health and Human Serviceswill operate the program.
Wake Opportunities operated Head Start programs in Wake, Chatham and Orange counties.
