WRAL Wins Six Emmys at Regional Competition

NASHVILLE, TENN. — WRAL-TV won a Mid-South Regional Emmy for Overall News Excellence Saturday night. In all, the station picked up six Emmys.

Our Five On Your Side team picked up an Investigative Reporting Emmy for their report about cars flooded during Hurricane Floyd being cleaned up and resold at car lots around the country. Reporter Monica Laliberte, producer Lori Lair and photojournalist Robert Meikle share the award.

WRAL's Tom Crichton, director James Ford, photojournalist Lynn French, Bob Holliday, Jay Jennings, Jim Payne and Tom Suiter won an Emmy for WRAL's coverage of the Final Four in Indianapolis.

Our "CentralXpress.com" program also won an Emmy in the Children's Program/Entertainment category. Congratulations to Dan Oliver, the program's producer.

David Crabtree, Jay Jennings, and Scott Mason share a Public Affairs Emmy for "Upon This Rock," a documentary about the Sistine Chapel.

Coverage of the 1999 Special Olympics World Games netted an Emmy in the Special Event Program/Live category. Congratulations to James Ford, producer Sunny Miller, senior director Leesa Moore-Craigie, Jim Payne and Tracy Wilson.
