RALEIGH — A fire in downtown Raleigh damaged a popular restaurant Wednesday morning.
Firefighters put out the fire at Southend Brewery on West Jones Street.
There was not a lot of damage to the exterior of the building, but there is smoke and water damage inside.
The restaurant might be open as early as Friday.
The fire started on the grill. Damage was confined to the ventilation system in the kitchen, leaving the dining room untouched. The owners are not sure how much repairs will cost, but they say the damage was not serious.
