Three Midway Employees Accused Of Stealing Items From Unclaimed Luggage

Posted Updated

RDU INTERNATIONAL — Three Midway Airlines employees are charged with stealing from passenger's bags.

Airport police say jewelry, clothing and tape recorders were taken from unclaimed luggage at Midway Airlines' baggage office.

Wesley Jorgensen was arrested Monday. Barbara Duffy and Michelle Loera were also charged with embezzlement. The best way to protect your baggage is to carry it onboard.

"If they are traveling with valuables, make sure you keep these on your person or keep them in the bag you're going to carry on the aircraft," says Mike Blanton, airport spokesman. "Don't check expensive jewelry or credit cards or anything of that nature."

Airport police say more charges are pending, possibly against employees of other airlines.
