RALEIGH — If you were sitting in traffic along Raleigh's outer beltline Thursday morning you were not alone.
Cars were backed up for miles due to an icy patch of road along the outer loop near the Poole Road exit.
A construction truck left along the road overnight apparently leaked water. The water froze, causing ice to form on the road.
Traffic was reduced to one lane while a DOT truck dumped a mixture of sand and salt on the road. Traffic began moving around 7 a.m.
