City Market Parking Time To Double

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — You can take your time on your next visit to Raleigh's City Market area. Free parking in the area has been extended from one hour to two hours.

The new signs started going up Wednesday. Business owners asked for the parking time limit increase to help keep patrons in their shops.

Previously, the city transportation department had told City Market that any changes in parking would have to wait until an evaluation of the parking needs throughout downtown Raleigh was complete.

Signs had been put up in April in front of Artspace, a nearby business, but they were put up in error and quickly taken down.

There is one-hour parking available on all four sides of nearby Moore Square.
