Pedestrian Hit By Car While Crossing Street In Raleigh

RALEIGH — A man was hit and killed by a car as he traveled across a street in Raleigh.

The man was attempting to cross New Bern Avenue, east of Corporation Parkway around 5:45 p.m. Saturday. He made it through three lanes, but was struck and killed by an oncoming Chevy Lumina.

Police are withholding his name, pending notification of the victim's family.

The accident tied up traffic on New Bern Avenue and on the Beltline for two hours while the scene was cleared.

Charges are not expected to be filed against the driver. -->
