Body Found Buried at Rest Stop Believed to be Missing Knightdale Teen

Posted Updated

BENSON — A Johnston County rest stop is now the scene of a murder investigation. The victim is believed to be a missing teenager from Knightdale.

Just after noon Thursday, police uncovered a body in a wooded area at a rest stop off Exit 325. The rest stop is located near the intersection of I-40 and I-95, about ten miles outside of Benson.

Police believe the body is of a murder victim they have been searching for since the first week of November. That is when 18-year-old Roshaun Floyd was reported missing.

If the body is that of Floyd, police believe Shandon Wright and his brother Sharoid Wright are responsible for the murder.

Police say this is a case of three alleged thieves who turned on each other.

"The now victim in this homicide, possibly had been identified. The brothers maybe felt like he would tell of their involvement in those particular crimes. We feel like that might have been a motive in this particular homicide," says Lt. Gerald Britt of theRaleigh Police Department.

Foul play was suspected when Floyd's car was found abandoned and marked with blood at RDU International. Police also believe at least two of the young men, including the victim, were directly involved in the robbery of a Chatham County pizza restaurant.

The suspects were in police custody before the body was found. The Wright brothers are being held without bond in the Wake County jail.
