Two Wrecks Snarl Raleigh Traffic

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Wrecks have snarled traffic in two Raleigh locations.

A midnight wreck of a tractor-trailer has slowed traffic on U.S.1 South,

And another wreck, also involving a tractor-trailer, has delayed motorists on I-440 at South Saunders Street.

In addition to delaying routine Saturday travel, it will also affect fans on their way to the N.C. State - Maryland football game. That kick-off is scheduled for noon, and many people may listen to it on their car radios rather than see it in person.

Law officers said the trailer at South Saunders Street will have to be emptied before it can be righted and then moved.

Their prediction is for a traffic back-up that will last at least three hours.

Those with TV in their vans or cars can watch the game on WRAL-TV5, or listen to it on WPTF radio, 680 on the AM dial.
