— Cumberland County authorities have arrested a man who they deemed a danger to his estranged wife and their children.

Investigators said Albert Watson, 34, formerly of Elma Street, Spring Lake, was found by a Cumberland County sheriff's deputy on North Main Street. He has been charged with domestic violence, abuse and first-degree kidnapping.

In addition to the Cumberland County charges, Spring Lake police have charged Watson with robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Watson is currently in the Cumberland County Jail on a $310,000 bond. He is expected to make his first court appearance Monday.

I'm a female against any type of domestic abuse.

People can be very vindictive and not themselves when good relationships go bad, but it works both ways. Not everyone charged with domestic abuse is guilty.

I have known someone for all their life and his wife for more than the 12 years they were married. When they were separated before they were divorced, she somehow convinced the DA or magistrate or somebody that her husband was enough of a threat to warrant a million dollar bond. He was eventually released and charges dropped for lack of evidence, however that's two weeks of his life over Thanksgiving he'll never get back.

He had never in the past or at anytime physically abused her.

I am NOT defending this current guy per se, just saying not everyone accused is guilty.

We as men must take it upon ourselves to ostracize and show absolute disdain for the macho attitudes that objectify women as possessions to do with as one wishes. We don't have to wait for tougher laws or other external motivations. We MUST Begin with our sons, brothers, friends, and most importantly ourselves.

papajim...I agree with you but be careful. Words like those will get your comment "booted" as I know from experience.

I hope they keep him locked up until his wife and children get out of the home and far away so he can't find them. I shudder to think what might happen to that woman if the police cut him loose.

    papa jim:

The LAST sentence of your comment was unbelievable!! I have never read something so short (that last sentence), that had such a profound meaning! That is so true, and easy to remember! I love that! The first part of your comment was good too, but that sentence was the kicker!

    :-)

We've seen too many stories of what can happen when perpetrators of domestic violence are kept at bay with nothing more than a piece of paper. It's scary to think that this story could have a much worse, more tragic ending. Thank you to the police! God bless those children!

I agree with statements about being glad the family is safe. Hopefully they will keep him locked up and get him some help so we don't have to read about his wife and kids being hurt/killed.

I am glad that they found him. He needs to get some serious help and leave the child and the mother alone.

NOBODY SHOULD LIVE IN FEAR OF BEING ASSAULTED BY ANYONE. IF YOU CAN'T GET HELP FROM THE POLICE.JUST KILL THE PERSON BEFORE THEY KILL YOU. IT'S BETTER TO BE JUDGED BY TWELVE THAN CARRIED BY SIX

  • silverflash May 14, 2007

well. my situation is sort of resolved. I have been to court 11 times since april 2006 for the one charge she had for her violating a 50-b. It has been continued or the judge has not shown up all ten times. Then you wonder why the courts are crowed? I had her in duplin county earlier this year on the false 911 charge and you would not believe how much better they are in their processes. Must quicker and professional down there!!!!!

My original commet was meant to basically say, don't jump to conclusions because alot of people lie just to get even with someone. Maybe this guy is the victim, maybe not. Only he and god and she knows for sure...
