Maintenance Worker Killed in Fall Down Elevator Shaft

Posted Updated

RALEIGH — Raleigh police do not believe foul play was involved in the death of a man who fell down an elevator shaft.

Robert Rogers, a maintenance worker, apparently fell Tuesday while working at a four-story building on Harnett Street. When he was not seen on Wednesday, friends and co-workers began looking for him.

Late Wednesday afternoon, they looked down an elevator shaft and found his body. Rogers typically worked on the third floor.

Police are treating the case as suspicious, which is normal procedure. An autopsy is being performed.
