DURHAM — TheDurham Police Departmentis coming to grips with an allegation against one of its own.
Bruce Preiss is a police technician accused of destroying evidence. He was responsible for storing items pertaining to a case.
Instead of storing them, the district attorney says Price drove around with the evidence for months, then just threw the evidence away.
"Anytime it is alleged that a member of our department has done something that may compromise the prosecution of a case with the ability to present it to a jury is very disturbing," says Maj. George Hare of the Durham Police Department.
Price is on paid leave from the Durham Police Department until officers finish investigating the allegations.
