Standoff at Gaston County Store Ends

BELMONT — Three suspects are under arrest, accused in a botched burglary and standoff in a Gaston County town.

John Elton Russell of Fayetteville, Ramon Garcia Jr. of Dunn and Rodrick McGriff of Miami all face burglary charges.

The SWAT team was called in after police caught two of the men behind a Roses store. Police thought Russell was still inside.

SWAT teams searched for Russell for seven hours. Finally, they found him behind some bushes beside the store.

He had apparently broken both of his ankles after jumping off the roof to escape. andJulie Moos
