The Wake County Sheriff's Office is investigating the murder of a North Raleigh teenager.

A neighbor discovered the body of 16-year-old Usama Husein Saturday morning in a small ditch near his home on Presnell Court. The teen had been shot several times.

Friends and classmates of Husein, a sophomore at Millbrook High School, gathered at the crime scene to support the family and console each other.

Deputies spent the day looking for clues and questioning residents of the Stone Creek neighborhood. They are also tracing Husein's activities over the past week.

Major Danny Bellamy says a projectile and several shell casings were found at the scene.

Bellamy says his office received a call Friday night from someone located a block away from the crime scene who reported hearing gun fire. Deputies responded and searched the area, but did not find anything.

Deputies say Husein had several criminal charges pending against him, including assault.
