PITTSBORO — A memorial fund has been established in honor of the Northwood High School student who was killed in a car accident earlier this week.
Joseph Matarazzo was killed when the car he was in tried to pass another vehicle and crashed into a van carrying eight people. The 18-year-old was in the front seat. Charges are pending against the driver of the car.
The students at the school, where he was a senior, have signed his locker, and there is also an impromptu memorial, including his picture, in a hallway at the school.
A wake will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Moncure on Friday from 6-9 p.m.
