They will probably use their welfare check to activate the phones at an Alltell store out of state.

mvnull NO they have to get it on the grid first that means a dealer/corporate store. They will already have them flagged by now. The only other people that get hurt now are the QVC Shoppers think they are getting a deal. Looks nice original box and all. Just to find out like Grampa said " Look to good to be true.. its not".. Then the LEO's have to investigate the people with the HOT phones and they have to prove they can be charged with being stupid (loosing their money as well) but not stolen goods.. Some that already have rap sheets will see more of the Police station than others.

Help me understand this. Aren't phones individually identified with digital serial numbers? Don't the store keep a record of their serial numbers? Won't they be able to pinpoint who has the phone when they try to use it? Can't you just wait until they are used, then follow them back to the theives?

What a couple of dummies, all are serialized and inventoried so they are plastic door stops. Sorry for the people think they are getting a deal when they try to activate their "free" or $20.00 PHONE and get arrested for possesion of stolen property. Of course they can ID the perps. Oh well... Fast money for the players....

dang Cary and Wake County...I hope they meant Wake Forest. Whose job is it to type up the news on here anyway. Give me the job and I will make sure it is correct. You represent WRAL and you make WRAL look stupid.

Don't worry.....next month Alltel cell phone users will just see a $2 "we wuz robbed" surcharge on their bills.

(And the state will probably also tax the surcharge.)
