Fayetteville Couple With Child in Car Charged With Assault

A Fayetteville couple is accused of trying to run down a man with a car. According to Cumberland County sheriff's deputies, the couple's child was in the back seat.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fayetteville couple is accused of trying to run down a man with a car. According to Cumberland County sheriff's deputies, the couple's child was in the back seat.

Joseph Williams, 27, and Jacqueline Landreth, 25, are charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

Investigators said Landreth and her husband tried to run over Josh Oakes on a road in Harnett County. Oakes was injured, but authorities said he will be OK.

There is no word on a motive, but deputies said Landreth and Oakes used to be in a relationship.
