JOHNSONVILLE — Firefighters in Harnett County have had their hands full this weekend.
They battled a huge fire in the southwestern part of the county, near Johnsonville. More than 1000 acres burned.
Flames threatened some homes and nearby buildings.
Firefighters welcomed Saturday's rain, but not the high winds that came with it.
A plane and a helicopter from the state forest service dropped water on the flames.
