e-mail print friendly

Cary policeare on the lookout for a man they say tried to kidnap a 13-year-old girl.

Police say a man stopped his car on Cowley Road Sunday evening and asked the girl for directions and then tried to grab her.

"We don't have any idea what this guy's intentions are," says Lt. Steve Lee of the Cary Police Department. "It could be a sexual predator working in our area. We haven't had anything like this in our area in two or three years."

Residents in Lochmere Village are on guard. One resident, Sally Resnik, has left warnings about the attempted kidnapper in her neighbors' mailboxes.

"It just helps to tell everybody what the color of the car is, what the car looked like and what the man looked like," Resnik says.

Police say the man drove a 2-door forest green Saturn or Pontiac Sunfire with tinted windows.

If anyone has seen the car or a man fitting the police's description, they are asked to contact Cary police at919-469-4012.
