PINEHURST — A long legal battle over use of a name has finally ended for the Moore County village of Pinehurst.
The village and the Pinehurst Resort and Country Club reached an agreement Friday on the use of the Pinehurst name.
Under the settlement, new businesses can use the name, as long as the business is not golf-related.
Old businesses can keep their names.
Friday's agreement ends a 16-year fight over who has the right to use the Pinehurst name.
