RED SPRINGS — State law enforcement agents have caught the man they say was involved in the death of a Robeson County woman.
Police say Dane Locklear Jr. was involved in a fire that killed 45-year-old Frances Persad last Sunday.
Persad's body was found inside her burned-out Red Springs home.
SBI agents found her abandoned car Wednesday.
A tipster called the SBI after seeing Locklear's picture on TV Thursday, and Locklear was arrested at around 2:40 p.m. in rural Robeson County.
Locklear is being held in the Robeson County Jail without bond, charged with first-degree murder.
This is the second time Locklear has been charged with murder. He was a suspect in the murder of a UNC-Pembroke student, but charges were dropped in the Cindy Wheeler murder case when a witness could not be found.
