Warren County Principal Charged with DWI

Posted May 8, 2007

— A Warren County principal was charged with DWI on May 4. Her school district has taken no action against her at this time.

Wanda Hunt, principal of Northside Elementary School, was charged with DWI and careless and reckless driving, according to the Warren County clerk of court.

Hunt's arrest is under investigation by the school board, which will determine if any action is warranted, according to school spokesman Patrick Draffin.

Hunt's first court appearance is scheduled for July 11.

O.k.....ya'll get ready for some kind of visit from Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. I'm sure that whoever arrested her was a racist.

You cant compare a persons sexual preference to drinking. She was driving drunk. In order to compare the two -- the gay person should be arrested for sex in a public place. Then you can compare the two. When you put your business out in the street and you get arrested-- is the key here. Students are driving and drinking and now the principal is caught doing the same thing and she keeps her job. She needs to be fired and replaced if she is convicted.

ALL YOU PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT IS HER JOB AND SHE SHOULD BE FIRED. YOU ALL ARE SO BRIGHT AND SMART THAT YOU ALL FAIL TO REALIZE THAT DRINKING IS NOT IN SCHOOL POLICY. HOW MANY TEACHERS, LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND OTHER HIGH HELD POSITIONS YOU KNOW THAT AFTER A LONG DAY'S WORK DON'T GO HOME AND "RELAX" AND IF YOU SAY NONE THEN YOU ARE LYING. I HOPE I NEVER SEE ANYONE OF YOU ALL IN THE WRONG.

FIRST OF ALL WE ARE NOT GOD WE CANNOT JUDGE ANYONE BY THEIR MISTAKES. WE ALL HAVE MADE MISTAKES AND WE HAVE ALSO LEARNED FROM THEM. I'M SO UPSET AT SOME OF THE COMMENTS YOU PEOPLE, NOT ALL, HAVE MADE. WHY JUDGE SOMEONE OF THEIR SOCIAL BEHAVIOR? SOME OF YOU ALL DO NOT EVEN KNOW THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS THAT SHE HAS MADE. MONDAYS THRU FRIDAYS SHE IS AN EXCELLENT PRINCIPAL, TEACHER, AND FRIEND TO ALOT OF PEOPLE AND STUDENTS. YOU CANNOT PUNISH HER FOR HAVING A SOCIAL LIFE. YOU PEOPLE ACT AS IF SHE CAME TO SCHOOL LIKE THAT. THAT'S WHAT'S WRONG WITH SOCIETY TODAY. WHAT ABOUT THESE SO CALLED PASTORS THAT GOES TO CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY AND PREACHES THE WORD THEN GOES OUT AND HAVE KIDS OUT OF WEDLOCK AND TAKES MONEY FROM HIS/HER CHURCH FAMILY. AND THIS GOES OUT TO THE ONE WHO DECIDED TO BRING THE MEDIA INTO ALL OF THIS, ARE YOU GETTING SOME GET BACK BECAUSE SHE TOOK YOU OUT OF A PROGRAM AND PLACED YOU BACK IN THE REGULAR CLASSROOM TO TEACH? IF SO THAT WAS WRONG AND DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM

Alot of people are calling this a mistake. If she would have ran into a family member of yours, would you still be calling this a mistake. It is not a mistake.Honestly she deserves everything she gets but knowing the justice system, she will get a slap on the wrist, or community service, maybe even probation.....

If people lost there jobs for being gay or drunk this city would be abandoned.......

Do you know how to lead children? By commanding their respect! The children and their parents will not be able to respect a drunken principal who doesn't have the sense to call a cab instead of driving under the influence. And don't forget, when she made the decision to drink and drive she potentially put her students in jeopardy since they could have been in an accident caused by her careless and reckless driving (which are her additional charges). She needs to go!

Given there is no God, I am without sin, but I don’t want to cast any stones. She should go through the legal system like any other person. She shouldn’t lose her job. A DWI has nothing to do with her ability to be a principal. A cop getting a DWI is another matter, since part of their job is enforcing DWI laws.

For those claiming this wouldn’t be a media event if she wasn’t black, please turn on your brain. Seems like all we’ve seen lately with teachers getting in trouble is WHITE teachers, and that’s gotten plenty of media attention and discussion on these forums.

Yeah, she made a mistake and we've all made mistakes blah blah blah yada yada yada. She's the PRINCIPAL OF YOUNG CHILDREN AND IS THEREFORE SET BEFORE THEM AS AN EXAMPLE OF HOW TO LIVE AS AN ADULT. She's not a good example and therefore can't be a good leader. She should be removed from her job just like the Wake Forest-Rolesville High School principal should have been removed from his job for the same infraction. Of course, he wasn't removed and she won't be either because GOD forbid we should "judge" anyone based on a "mistake".
