At Least 1 Child Injured in Efland Mobile Home Fire

At least one child is injured after an early morning fire destroyed a mobile home in Orange County.

Both the Efland and Hillsborough fire departments responded to the scene. The fire broke out around 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Fire officials say the fire started in the living room and was caused by an electric heater.

Flames destroyed the home, but some family members were able to make it out safely. At least two children were transported to UNC Hospitals. One is still in the hospital.

"When the Efland and Hillsborough fire departments arrived on the scene, the mobile home was engulfed in flames. There were some occupants in the mobile home that did escape the fire. We do have one or two children at this hour that have been injured and are en route to UNC Hospitals," said Orange County Fire Marshal Mike Tapp.

There has been no update on the seriousness of the child's injuries.
