Future Of N.C. State Campouts In Doubt After Students' Conduct

Students say they were told tickets for 4,000 seats were available. The athletic department distributed only 2,500.

University officials tell WRAL that they are extremely concerned about student conduct during the campout for Carolina tickets, and that future campouts at N.C. State are in doubt.

Things apparently heated up early Monday morning.

"When they dragged a couch out, they lit it up and before long, people started throwing pallets on it, and you had this huge fire," said student Mike Coutousiz. "When the firemen arrived to put the fire out, the students got a little rowdy and were throwing beer cans at them."

Conen Morgan, a member of NCSU Student Government and organizer of the campout, says he had been looking forward to the campout, but admits this could be the last one.

"My father came to this university, and he talked about campouts," Morgan said. "So from that standpoint, we have been looking forward to this for a long time."

"Tradition changes with time," Morgan said. "We may be on the brink of a change."

N.C. State leaders are considering new options for ticket distribution. They hope to make an announcement in the next couple of days.
