Lowe's Backs Out Of Plans To Put Store Across From New Southpoint Mall

DURHAM — Traffic around the new Southpoint Mall in Durham may not be as bad as feared once it opens in Fall 2001.
Lowe's Home Improvement has backed out of plans to put a store across the street from the mall.
The company resold the land after complaints from the community.
The new owner of the land wants to put an office-retail-hotel project on the same spot.
