Durham Police Looking for Suspect in Sexual Assaults

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — March 4, 2000

Durham Police say they need the public's assistance to catch a rapist who, they say, is prowling the Trinity Park neighborhood in Durham.

Investigators say a woman was sexually assaulted early last Sunday morning. Then late Thursday night another woman was attacked in her home.

Lt. Eddie Sarvis of the Durham Police Department warned people who live in the Trinity Park neighborhood should lock their doors and windows and be on guard at all times.

"Patrols have been increased in the neighborhood," Sarvis said. "Detectives are canvassing the area to see if they recognize the composit that we have out."

Both victims say their attacker was around 30 years old, between 5'10" and 6'1" with a medium build and dark complexion.

Police say, however, they are not positive both women were attacked by the same man.
