A minor league basketball team is coming to Fayetteville.

The NBA announced Thursday that Fayetteville will be the first city in the country to host one of the new teams. The National Basketball Development League (NBDL) will play 26 home games at the Crown Coliseum.

As part of the deal, SFX Entertainment, the NBA's partner, will also bring 22 entertainment events to the coliseum each year.

The minor league teams would begin playing in November 2001, with the season ending in April 2002. Seven other southeastern cities will play host to NBDL teams.

The season will include 56 games and playoffs.

The team's name and coach will be announced later. There is a broadcast deal to air NBDL games on ESPN and ESPN2.

Season ticket reservations can be made by sending an email with your name, address, phone number and email address tonbdltickets@nba.comor by calling1-800-4NBA-TIX.
