WILSON — The Red Cross in Wilson is feeling the heat, due to a large number of fires in the area.
TheWilson-Greene chapterof the American Red Cross helped victims in 35 fires last year. So far, it has been a difficult start to 2001.
There were four fires on New Year's Day alone, and anapartment building fireMonday displaced several families. The fires are straining their relief budget.
"We never really get the funds we ask for. I don't think anyone else does," says Tom Primm of the American Red Cross. "We've been unable to get additional funds for disaster fire families."
