Museum Traces History of State's First Families

A new exhibit opens at theNorth Carolina Museum of Historythis weekend, just in time tocelebrate the inaugurationof the state's next governor.

"First Families of North Carolina" showcases five centuries of North Carolina's governors and their families.

The exhibit opens Saturday, Jan. 6, the same day Mike Easley will be sworn in as governor.

The exhibit features pictures, artifacts, and even a ballroom floor with gowns worn by former first ladies on inauguration night.

The exhibit is free and will be open through January 2, 2002.
