RALEIGH — Investigators may have a lead in a series of attempted ATM thefts in the Triangle.
Mark Searcy was arrested over the weekend after police say he and another man tried to tear an ATM out of a McDonald's restaurant near Highway 98 and U.S. 1 in Wake Forest.
During the past month, there have been three otherattempted ATM theftsin Wake County, two on Christmas Day.
Investigators have not ruled out Searcy as a suspect in all the cases.
They are also talking to Durham police about some unsolved ATM thefts there.
