Cary Lad Possesses 'Best Smile in America'
You cannot miss Jayce. He has a winning smile -- a national winning smile.
Posted — UpdatedCARY, N.C. — Pick up this month's issue of Reader's Digest, and you'll find a little boy from Cary on page 11.
You can't miss him. He's got a great big grin. And that smile is a winner, literally.
Jayce is still smiling two years after his mom, Nora, snapped what is now a famous photo.
Jayce smiled the best smile in America. Reader's Digest said so when it made him the winner of a contest.
There were 1,200 entries. Jayce had two teeth, that beaming, bright-eyed boy with the sandy hair.
“He's always full of character. His facial expressions are so unique,” his mother said Wednesday. “He talks and tells stories, but his face tells so many more stories.”
Nora Kelly had plenty of material to work with for the contest.
“He is very photogenic. I take pictures of him all the time,” she said, including the winning shot that everyone in America can see now.
Jayce and his mom did not win any money for placing first. The contest had no time limit. Jayce is 9 months old in the winning photograph. He's 3 years old now.
