LILLINGTON — The flooding didn't stop one congregation from gathering for Sunday services.
About 800 people attended services in the parking lot at Englewood Baptist Church in Rocky Mount.
The church isn't flooded.
Its sanctuary is -- filled with clothes, food and other items for flood victims.
Among those at the service was U.S. Sen. John Edwards. He told the parishioners that the citizens of eastern North Carolina are hurting as they've never hurt before.
He promised to do all he can to made sure federal help gets to everyone who needs it.
