Brightening Your Smile Can Help Brighten Needy Kids' Lives

Dentists across the country -- and in the Triangle -- have an offer that will put a smile on your face.

Over the next three months, you can get your teeth professionally whitened for $200 -- half the normal price -- at participating dentists offices. Every penny goes to sick and underprivileged children.

Raleigh dentist Dr. James Sarant is taking part in theSmiles for Lifecampaign.

"We do it at a reduced fee to get people to come in. They can write the check directly out to Smiles for Life, which benefits the kids," says Sarant.

John Ferguson had not considered getting his teeth bleached until he heard about the campaign.

"It was a win win situation, so I wanted to participate in that," he says.

Diana Saranto had the procedure done last year. She says other people noticed a positive change that extended beyond her teeth.

"They knew there was something better about me and they couldn't figure out why. They attributed it to a loss of weight, which I really wish was the case, bit it was not," she says.

Dentists throughout the United States and Canada are participating in the campaign which runs through June 30.

Over the last four years the campaign has raised $8 million for children's charities. Dr. Sarant's office hopes to top the $5,000 raised last year.
