Sources: N.C. Company To Run State Fair Rides

RALEIGH, N.C. — It appears the North Carolina State Fair has found a carnival company to run this year's midway.

Last week, fair leaders rejected the only bidder to operate the rides in October. On Wednesday night, various amusement industry websites reported a North Carolina company has been awarded a one-year deal.

Sources say Powers Great American Midways of Burgaw will run the rides. Powers has been in business 26 years, handling fairs along the East Coast from South Carolina to New York. In North Carolina, Powers has handled fairs in several towns, including Asheville, Durham, Goldsboro, and Wilmington.

State Fair officials had no comment, except to say an announcement will be made Thursday morning.
