WRAL-TV news anchorPam Saulsbyis one of nine women to receive the Distinguished Women of North Carolina Award.

Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue presented the awards in a ceremony in Cary Thursday night. The event was sponsored by the N.C. Council for Women.

Saulsby was honored for her work at WRAL-TV and in the community.

Other recipients include:

  • N.C. State University Chancellor Marye Anne Fox
  • Philanthropist Julia Jones Daniels
  • Katie Dorsett, former secretary of the N.C. Department of Administration
  • Volunteer Ida Friday
  • Potter and businesswoman Louise Bigmeet Maney
  • U.S. Marshal Becky Whitley Wallace
  • Juanita Bryant, retired executive director of the Council for Women
  • Newspaper columnist Susan Hanely Lane
