The employees organized what they call a "reverse job fair." They invited recruiters to come to them.
More than 60 former Nortel employees filed into the Capital City Chop House in Morrisville Wednesday, looking for work. About 20 employers came to find workers.
The laid-off workers also started a Web site to sell themselves.HireTopTalent.comfeatures information about former Nortelers in Canada, Texas and North Carolina.
April Lewis got her Nortel walking papers last month. Wednesday's gathering allowed her to jump back into the market.
"I've tried talking to a few of [the recruiters] already, and I'm hoping to get some calls back from some of the people I've talked to," she said.
