RALEIGH — A new group is in place to bring the NHL All-Star Game to the Triangle.
The Friends of the Canes will lead the push to make Raleigh an all-star city. According to the group's chairman andCapitol BroadcastingCEO Jim Goodmon, the first step is to boostHurricanesseason ticket sales.
"We're going to show [the community's] support by assisting the Hurricanes in their spring ticket drive and helping them get the All-Star Game," he said.
It is estimated that the All-Star Game would generate $10 to $20 million for the local economy.
Capitol Broadcasting Company is the parent company of WRAL-TV.
