Scotland Neck, N.C. — A man suspected of shooting his girlfriend in Halifax County surrendered to authorities Monday morning.
Authorities in Halifax County had been looking for Douglas Jammal Pender, 26, in connection with the April 24 shooting of his girlfriend, Pamela Bryant of Tarboro. Investigators said the weapon used in the shooting was found in a Rocky Mount motel room.
Pender was brought to the Halifax County Sheriff's Office by his family.
Bryant is hospitalized in critical condition at an undisclosed location under an alias, investigators said. Authorities believe the incident is domestic-related.
