RDU INTERNATIONAL — College students flying to their spring break destinations are being asked to leave their cars at home.

Officials atRDU Internationalare encouraging students to carpool or consider alternatives to driving and parking at the airport.

"Although we've spent millions to add thousands of new parking spaces in recent years, the demand for parking continues to push the limit of supply during heavy travel periods as a result of double-digit growth in passenger traffic for several years," said RDU Spokesman Mike Blanton.

Some suggestions:
  • Carpool
  • Have a friend drop you off and pick you up
  • Ride aTriangle Transit Authoritybus
  • Share a taxi
  • Thousands of students attending Triangle colleges and universities are expected to fly out of the airport during their spring breaks which begin Friday and run through March 18.
