The search is on for a man who is accused of shooting his girlfriend in Scotland Neck on Tuesday.

SCOTLAND NECK, N.C. — The search is on for a man who is accused of shooting his girlfriend in Scotland Neck on Tuesday.

Investigators in Halifax County are looking for Douglas Jammal Pender, 26, who is wanted in connection to the shooting of his girlfriend, Pamela Bryant of Tarboro. Pender's vehicle was recovered near Rocky Mount after the incident.

Bryant is hospitalized in critical condition at an undisclosed location under an alias, investigators said. She and Pender have one child.

Pender has served prison time for assault and drug convictions.
