FAYETTEVILLE — For the first time in 12 years, fines for overdue library books are rising in Cumberland County.
To help make up for a tight budget this year, library patrons will now pay 20 cents a day for overdue books. That is up from 10 cents a day.
The library system estimates the 100 percent increase will bring in an addition $100,000 a year.
