WILSON — Years of passenger service at Rocky Mount-Wilson Airport will come to an end Friday.
The airport's only commercial passenger service, US Airways Express,is pulling out. The number of flights has dwindled in recent years, as passengers take advantage of lower fares offered throughRDU International.
Corporate and cargo service will continue at the airport, but money may be hard to come by. Passenger service brought in about half of the airport's yearly income, and chances of luring another carrier are slim.
Kinston and Winston-Salem have also lost passenger airline service in recent months.
