Big Crowds = Big Bucks for CIAA Vendors

e-mail print friendly

More than 100 vendors are filling up the top level of Raleigh's Entertainment and Sports Arena, ready to sport their wares for CIAA fans.

Last year, the Vendor's Pavilion was one of the most popular attractions. Fans flocked to the area to buy clothing, paintings, jewelry and makeup.

"The vendors are a big draw for me," says student Michelle Greene.

The number of vendor booths has grown from 76 last year to more than 100 this year. Some vendors have come from as far away as Seattle.

"It's one of the treats for the tournament," says vendor coordinator Dave Cook. "I think some people like the vending more than the basketball. We have people calling now wondering, 'When are the vendors going to set up?'"

The pavilion officially opens at noon, and booths are scheduled to stay open until midnight each night.

Saturday is traditionally the biggest day for vendors, who will be open from 9 a.m. to midnight.
