I-95 Crash Kills 1, Injures 2 Near Benson

Posted April 29, 2007

— A one-car crash on Interstate 95 in Johnston County killed one person and injured two others severely Sunday morning, the state Highway Patrol said.

The accident happened on the northbound side of the interstate when a car with Pennsylvania plates ran into the center median and the driver apparently over-corrected to the right and the car rolled over, troopers said.

The crash was just north of Benson.

Helicopters flew one of the injured people to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville and the other to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, police said.

Troopers did not immediately release the identities of the victims.
