Leesville H.S. Student Diagnosed With Bacterial Meningitis

RALEIGH — The Wake County Health Department is trying to calm fears at Leesville High School after a 16-year-old student was diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.

Health officials say no one at the school is in danger. County health officials say only his immediate family had close contact. They are being treated.

Bacterial meningitis causes brain swelling and can be deadly.
