FAYETTEVILLE — Planes and Pope airmen are heading out of Fayetteville.
About 300 people and 45 aircraft are being shifted to other bases becausePope Air Force Base'srunway will close for construction Friday at midnight.
The 38-year-old lighting system on the runway will be replaced over the next three weeks.
In case of emergency deployment, construction crews must have the runway running within six hours notice.
